Bio
Nutthawut "Ice" Ploysri is a guitarist from Chiang Mai. He began playing seriously in middle school, when his music club formed a band. Another friend also played guitar, so he switched to bass for a while.
He first met improvisation at university, where friends played blues and jazz. It was harder than he expected, and he got serious about it in his third year while preparing for recitals. His first big influence was Allan Holdsworth, then bebop and hard bop: Miles Davis, Charlie Parker and Wayne Shorter, whom he admires as a composer. In a 2024 interview (translated from Thai) he said he thinks of improvising "in terms of images, modes, emotions, and feelings rather than technicalities." Composing and sharing new music matters most to him.
On the Anthrophonic album Arkive Sessions, he plays guitar.
