Bio
Pharadon "Opor" Phonamnuai is a saxophonist and writer from Chiang Mai, and the founder of the North Gate Jazz Co-Op. Before starting it he travelled with his saxophone through Europe, Asia and North America, and lived for a time in New York and Japan.
He started the co-op as a place for musicians to play and make their own music, and he hoped to give Thai musicians the confidence to play original songs rather than covers. In 2025 he opened a sister venue, North Gate Spirit, a café and bar with live music in a restored Old City shophouse, built around local craft.
On the Anthrophonic album Arkive Sessions, he plays tenor saxophone.
