Bio
Steven Montecucco is a trumpeter and composer trained at Berklee. A 2021 recital there presented original music fusing jazz, funk and folk traditions to explore identity, spirituality and connection.
In 2024 Montecucco was living in Chiang Mai and playing in its jazz scene. In an interview that year, Montecucco described improvising as bringing every part of who you are into the music: your background, culture, what you have listened to and who taught you. "We're all like kind of playing with ghosts every time we play," Montecucco said. Living in Thailand also deepened a habit of listening first and taking in a space before acting, on the bandstand and off it. Beyond playing, Montecucco's real passions are music education and community building.
On the Anthrophonic album Arkive Sessions, Montecucco plays trumpet.
